The product arrives only weeks after Purdue University students shattered the robot-speed record with their 0.103-second “Purdubik’s Cube” solver, underscoring a new era in which both humans and machines push the limits of the 51-year-old puzzle.

Inside each translucent cube, a 6-axis MEMS sensor array tracks quarter-turn accuracy to 0.1°, while low-energy LEDs on every tile light up to signal hints, penalties or celebration patterns. A companion app, available on iOS and Android, streams the cube’s orientation 200 times per second fast enough to keep pace with the sub-millisecond robotics shown off at Purdue but the real magic lies in the AI coach. After any scramble, the app offers three optional modes: “Learn” (step-by-step CFOP tutorials), “Beat the Bot” (race a ghost-cube that mimics the 0.103-second world-record solve) and “Zen Flow,” which adapts scramble difficulty to keep the user in a deliberate-practice zone.

Battery life targets obsessive cubers: the replaceable CR1220 coin cell endures 60 hours of continuous motion sensing, equivalent to roughly 10 000 algorithm repetitions. When power finally runs low, the cube still functions mechanically; only the lighting and connectivity shut down.

Early trials with 200 high-school speedcubers in Seoul improved average solve times by 18 % after four weeks, while reducing the dreaded “lock-up” rate thanks to a re-engineered core that borrows vibration-damping polymers from drone propellers. “I can now consistently break 10 seconds,” said 16-year-old participant Min-jun Park, whose personal best remains 3.47—still far from Max Park’s human world record of 3.13 s, but edging closer.
