Cesium chloride crystal model
The cesium chloride crystal model is a teaching tool used in chemistry to demonstrate the crystal structure of cesium chloride (CsCl). It presents the typical cubic crystal structure of CsCl through physical objects or transparent models. In teaching, it is used to explain the spatial configuration of ionic crystals: by visually displaying the coordination number of positive and negative ions through the model, it helps students understand the characteristic of "particles in crystals arranged periodically according to certain rules", compares the face centered cubic structure of sodium chloride (NaCl), and clarifies the structural differences of different crystal types. Figuring out abstract crystal structures and assisting students in establishing spatial configuration cognition is an important visualization tool for teaching material structures.
